# DNS setup and domain verification

> Verify domain ownership and review email routing DNS safely.

Domain ownership TXT verification and mail-routing DNS are separate checks.

## Ownership record

Add the exact TXT record shown in the app at `_forwardly.yourdomain.com`. Recheck after DNS propagation.

## Mail routing records

Before changing MX, SPF or DKIM, inspect the current DNS records and identify any existing mail provider. Never replace mail records blindly.

## Manual setup

If your DNS provider is not integrated, make changes through its dashboard only after reviewing the forwarding provider’s current setup instructions.
